Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards: Comics for Kids Award
The Comics for Kids award was established by the
Joe Shuster Awards and
The Dragon in 2009.
The award is designed to bring attention to graphic novels aimed at audiences aged 14 and younger, created by Canadians. Each year, a nomination committee made up teachers, led by Jenn, owner of The Dragon and Comics in the Classroom, goes through all eligible publications from the year and selects 8 finalists. These books are then judged by a jury of experts who select a recipient. The recipient is announced at the Joe Shuster Awards held annually to spotlight excellence in comics in Canada.
